Pacquiao-Mosley Fight – Expected to Be Shown on Terrestrial TV

Few bettors or pundits are expecting Pacquiao to face some trouble in his forthcoming fight against Sugar Shane Mosley on May 7, 2011 to be held in MGM Grand Las Vegas. On Monday afternoon, Mosley was an underdog of 7-1. On the other hand, some expects that the sport’s business could be changed forever.  The Mosley fight is said to be the first appearance of pacquiao on Showtime PPV following the eight successive appearances on HBO pay-per-view. In connection to this, Showtime has solicited the assistance of CBS and will utilize its 160 radio stations, billboard properties and affiliate TV stations in order to push the battle to a larger viewers. Bob Arum, Top Rank CEO of boxing’s woes said, “You can never be a major sport if not having the widest possible publicity. That is the reason why boxing was so famous way back in the 1960s and 70s since it was always shown on terrestrial TV.”

Showtime will air three weeks prior to the fight a part of Fight Camp 360 degree which is a documentary-style program which demonstrates the complex preparation which will go before a fight. CBS will also air another segment a week prior to the main event of the Fight Camp and then another episode the Friday earlier than the fight. And then Saturday afternoon immediately hours prior to the battle – CBS will again air the previous episode. Bob Arum has said that the early show of CBS will report the fight which will provide remote coverage just like the times of Muhammad Ali. Manny Pacquiao with his soft-spoken, humble demeanor can be the ambassador which the sport world has long needed. Bob Arum is very positive that the battle between Sugar Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao will result to the boxing exposure on terrestrial television.

  1. I can not wait until Saturday. Showtime has been pumping this fight as I do believe this is its biggest fight it has had on. Working for DISH I haven't missed a fight, seeing it anyway, I haven't heard it, the sound is always down at work. One bummer of course, my television broke today, so I figure since I won't have a replacement by Saturday I'm going to order and watch the fight on dish online at http://bit.ly/dJzWgo
